A Map to Health Care Freedom
Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom Unveils the First Wave of ‘Wedge’ Practices—125 Covering 36 States Across the Country
ST. PAUL, Minn.—Around the nation, tucked in small towns and across big cities, physicians have said ‘no’ to insurance contracts and government regulations that tie their hands, and have instead said ‘yes’ to caring for their patients in a trusted, confidential personal relationship.

Doctor’s offices and medical clinics are already operating by these health freedom-embracing principles, but are largely invisible to the public. Patients either don’t know they exist or don’t know how to find them.
Until now.
Today, Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF, www.cchfreedom.org) is unveiling the first wave of practices that have joined The Wedge of Health Freedom (www.JointheWedge.com), a free- trade zone for health care where doctors are not bound by the shackles of government health care nor restrictive contracts with managed care corporations.
This summer, CCHF introduced The Wedge—a new way of doing health care that gives patients and doctors a roadmap to find each other and engage in a direct relationship, providing affordable and confidential patient care.
“We aim to make the invisible visible through The Wedge of Health Freedom, and then expand its reach,” said Twila Brase, president and co-founder of CCHF. “The Wedge brings patients and doctors back together again for patient-friendly, price-friendly and privacy-friendly care. This is the ethical way health care was and what it must become again.”
The first wave of Wedge practices totals more than 125 as of today, with more joining all the time, and covers 36 states across the nation. The online interactive map allows patients to search for practices in their area by zip code, city, state, or name of practice. Pinpoints on the map list the doctor’s name, address, phone number and web site.
“Today’s health care system is filled with a maze of costly, intrusive and restrictive regulatory controls over the practice of medicine and the delivery of health care services,” Brase added.

“Patients and doctors are both experiencing delays and denials. In short, the mission of medicine—taking care of patients—is being lost to the business of health care. The Wedge opens the door to a patient-doctor relationship that is trusted, ethical, caring and affordable.”
CCHF is branding this revolutionary, affordable back-to-the-future option as The Wedge of Health Freedom to draw the public’s attention to the patient-centered slice of American health care.

The online center for The Wedge of Health Freedom, www.JointheWedge.com, allows doctors to join The Wedge, provides doctors with resources for escaping into The Wedge, and now gives patients information on how to find these practices that incorporate the eight Wedge principles:
  1. Transparent and affordable pricing
  2. Freedom of choice
  3. True patient privacy
  4. No government reporting
  5. No outside interference
  6. Cash-based pricing
  7. A protected patient-doctor relationship
  8. All patients welcome
“With high-deductible insurance policies and cash-based health sharing organizations on the rise under Obamacare, The Wedge offers confidential and patient-centered care at an affordable price,” Brase said. “Doctors using ‘Wedge Principles’ work for patients—not the government or a health plan. All patients are welcome, whether insured, uninsured or subsidized.
“The Wedge makes the patient the focus of the doctor’s attention again,” she added. “Obamacare, hundreds of thousands of government regulations, and corporate health plans have intruded in the patient-doctor relationship, turning highly skilled physicians into data-gathering, checkbox- clicking clerks. But around the country, physicians and patients are breaking free. The Wedge of Health Freedom will point the way to this exciting escape route.”
