Trump Signs Executive Order to Ease
Economic Burdens of Affordable Care Act
Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom: Cabinet Has Been Unleashed to Free Americans from Obamacare Until Full Repeal
ST. PAUL, Minn.—In his first few hours as President of the United States, Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order that will minimize the economic burdens of the Affordable Care Act.
Twila Brase, president and co-founder of Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom
(CCHF, www.cchfreedom.org), a national health freedom and patient advocacy organization that has long called for the repeal of Obamacare, released the following statement over the weekend.
“With the stroke of a pen, President Trump has delivered on his promise to begin shutting down Obamacare,” she said. “Given that the Secretary of Health and Human Services is mentioned some 1,300 times in the law, President Trump has given his nominee for HHS Secretary, physician and Congressman Tom Price, broad license to use all possible administrative options and regulatory authority to neuter the Affordable Care Act.
“The Executive Order has a stunning paragraph that speaks freedom from end to end,” Brase added. “Trump authorizes all government agencies to: ‘waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation of any provision or requirement of the Act the would impose a fiscal burden on any State or a cost, fee, tax, penalty, or regulatory burden on individuals, families, healthcare providers, health insurers, patients, recipients of healthcare services, purchasers of health insurance, or makers of medical devices, products, or medications.’
“In short, Trump’s cabinet has been unleashed to free Americans from as much of Obamacare as possible until it can be fully repealed by Congress,” she concluded. “Seven years ago, Obamacare was declared the law of the land, and former President Obama claims it as his legacy achievement, but Trump said he’d move toward repealing Obamacare on ‘Day One,’ and he meant it. President Trump is showing America and the world his leadership, his resolve and his determination to bring Obamacare to an end.”
