Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom Applauds Confirmation of Tom Price as HHS Secretary
ST. PAUL, Minn.—After the U.S. Senate confirmed the appointment of Rep. Tom Price early this morning as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF, www.cchfreedom.org), a national health freedom and patient advocacy organization, applauded the confirmation, stating that Price is the best person for the job.
“From dollars to health care delivery, Rep. Tom Price has experience,” said CCHF president and co-founder Twila Brase. “He is chair of the House Budget Committee, he knows what it’s like to work with Congress and he’s taken care of patients as a physician. Dr. Price had a bill to repeal every word of the Affordable Care Act, and we trust that he still plans to do everything possible to make that happen. He has publicly stated his opposition to government-run health care and socialized medicine.”
Brase added, however, that there are items in Price’s Obamacare repeal bill CCHF does not support because they create another federal law for health care with federal regulations, stipulations and requirements.
“The federal government’s involvement in health care is the problem, not the solution,” Brase said. “The only way back to freedom is by sending health care back to the states and the people that live there.
“After repealing Obamacare,” Brase continued, “the next item on the list for HHS Secretary Tom Price should be Medicare, particularly for those not yet dependent on the program. With a $43 trillion unfunded liability and rationing strategies emerging from Congress, Americans need the freedom to keep their own health insurance past the age of 65. Once that happens, a new wave of health freedom and competition will drive prices down—for care and for coverage. As HHS Secretary, there is perhaps nothing more important for Dr. Price to do after repealing Obamacare.”
CCHF has launched The Wedge of Health Freedom (www.JointheWedge.com) to restore simplicity, affordability, and confidentiality to health care. Thus far, nearly 200 Wedge practices, where patients can find affordable, patient-centered care, are located in 44 states and can be found online.
