Never doubt the cleverness of Big Health. Obamacare does not redistribute wealth to the poor. Instead, the law’s various requirements redistribute wealth and wages to Obama’s partner in crime: large health plans. These corporations are then by law allowed to keep the cash and shortchange the care under “medical necessity” guidelines, demonstrating again that coverage is not care.

We’ve all heard talk of NSA surveillance, but there’s another surveillance that aims to track American’s health records. Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF, www.cchfreedom.org) is alerting Americans about the Obama Administration’s frightening biosurveillance (BSV) initiative, which would gather and analyze detailed health information that should be private and protected.
I recently stumbled upon two alarming intertwined initiatives. One is “One Health,” described in more detail later. The other is published by the Obama Administration. Called the National Strategy for Biosurviellance, it specifically states,
“A well-integrated, national biosurveillance enterprise is a national security imperative.”

I’m not going to talk about Obama’s SOTU… except to say that I feel like I did the last time he had to get up and try to sell Obamacare to the nation: he doesn’t want to do it; he feels it’s beneath him; it’s four years after Obamacare and he’s perturbed that he still has to be marketing the law in a speech. So his comments lack passion.

Intrusions sometimes surprise. I was at the doctor’s office recently when into the exam room walked a physician assistant and a young man in a tee shirt pushing a computer on a waist-high rolling stand. This “scribe” was introduced to me, but no one asked me if it was okay for him to stay. As I answered questions he silently typed away, taking down every word.

ST. PAUL, Minn.—The start of 2014 marks a victory for the protection of private genetic data with the settlement of a lawsuit between 21 Minnesota families and the Minnesota Department of Health. The multi-year case argued the illegal and improper storage and use of newborn blood samples and genetic test results obtained under the Newborn Screening Program by the state health department. The ruling is in favor of the 21 plaintiffs, and now the blood samples and test results obtained without consent must be destroyed.
