Is care at the end of life a waste of money? It has often been said, “Twenty-five percent of spending occurs in the last year of life.” The point of this claim is that we’re wasting money on those who are dying. It further supports rationing care to the elderly; redistributing dollars from the elderly to the young; and physician-facilitated suicide and euthanasia.

On Saturday, I was in Spokane, Washington speaking at the Red Pill Expo. As Christopher Nartey explains on Quora, in the movie “The Matrix, “a person who picks the red pill will become aware of the Matrix itself and what the machines are doing to them. Someone who takes the blue pill gets to continue living in ignorance, none the wiser of what they are being used for.”
Words shape thinking. Consider how often people say, “I get my health care at work.”I know what they mean but it’s not true.
You see . . . there’s no such thing as “health care.”

Republicans have a plan to save Obamacare. They have proposed a $60 billion payout for managed care corporations (“health plans”). The proposal includes $30 billion in reinsurance funds (transfer risk-bearing responsibility to taxpayers) and $30-$35 billion in cost-sharing reduction (CSR) subsidies, often called bailouts. That said, it now appears the payout may have been stripped from the must-pass (by Saturday) spending bill to be issued today.

Kudos to Idaho Governor “Butch” Otter! He’s doing what CCHF has been asking states to do. He’s opening up Idaho’s insurance market to policies NOT compliant with the ACA. He’s not waiting for Congress to repeal the ACA prohibition against catastrophic coverage.

David Copperfield would be impressed. The Republican plan to lower costs is a complex illusion. The GOP wants to “stabilize” (prop up) the Affordable Care Act with billions from taxpayers.
